+3.50 Reading Glasses
If I need +3.50 readers, does that mean that I have poor eyesight?
We try not to pass judgment on anything eye-related – unless we’re talking about drugstore readers, in which case we have no issue with saying they’re decidedly crummy. If you need +3.50 readers, it doesn’t mean you’re going blind or aging less than gracefully. Requiring higher reader strengths as you get older is simply a fact of life, and it’s something that happens to almost everyone. +3.50 readers are on the higher end of the spectrum of diopters (or reader strengths) we offer, so if your current readers just aren’t cutting it anymore, perhaps +3.50’s a charm.
If I wear +3.50 readers and am planning to have cataract surgery, will I need new reading glasses afterward?
Whether or not you’ll need glasses after the surgery depends on the type of lens you get. Be sure to talk to your doctor to figure out the best option for you, but we recommend waiting at least a month post-op for your vision to stabilize before purchasing a new pair of glasses. Feel free to start telling people you’re a cyborg straightaway, though.
Would +3.50 reading glasses be covered by my vision insurance?
Your vision insurance plan may partially or completely cover your new eye candy. Make sure to check with your insurance provider for eligibility for an out-of-network provider. While eyebobs does not bill insurance companies directly, we would be happy to send you an itemized receipt after purchase that you can forward to your provider for reimbursement. Just pop into the chat box on our website, contact us at omfg@eyebobs.com, or give us a call at 1-866-393-2627.
Can I find women's +3.50 reading glasses in different colors and styles?
Oh, can you. Read it and rejoice: any one of our frames can be outfitted with +3.50 reader lenses. If you’re in the market for reading glasses for women or for men, go ahead and feast your eyes on our plethora of colors, patterns, and shapes. Heads up for those in need of a prescription in their reading glasses as well as their reader strength: some of our half-rim readers and narrow-sized readers are not deep enough to fit a multi-focal lens, but there are still hundreds of options for finding a progressive reader, too. Go ahead, blame us for your newfound glasses shopping addiction – we can handle it.
How do I choose the right shape and size frame for my +3.50 readers?
Finding a pair of +3.50 readers that will make you give three cheers once you try them on is as simple as considering the holy trinity of flawlessly-fitting frames: face shape, head size, and personal taste. As a general rule, those with more angular features will be best suited to round, organic shapes, while rounder-faced folks will look their best in frames with sharper angles. Size-wise, our prescription readers run the gamut of head sizes. Mosey on over to our Fit Guide for more in-depth info.
Can I keep my +3.50 readers on for extended periods of time?
If you and your +3.50 readers are already in it for the long haul, you’ll be thrilled to know that wearing reading glasses for a long time won’t harm your eyes’ health in any way. However, they may give you a headache and hinder your eyesight if you’re wearing them while driving, playing sports, or anything else that requires a wider scope of vision. If you’re looking to use your readers for anything that involves seeing beyond the end of your novel, consider bifocal or progressive reading glasses instead. If you’re more asking to see if you’re allowed to read all seven Harry Potter books in one sitting while wearing your readers, the answer is a firm and hearty yes.Â
If I already wear prescription glasses, can I also use +3.50 readers?
If you wear contacts for distance vision correction, there’s no need to go to the trouble of taking your contacts out every time you need to peruse the wine list. You can wear your +3.50 strength reading glasses right over your contacts. If you’re not a contacts wearer, allow us to direct your attention to our progressive or bifocal lenses. They’re ideal for those who need to see double (both near and far, that is).
Are there any tasks for which I should not wear +3.50 reading glasses?
Full lens readers will make your distance vision go all wonky, so you should avoid wearing them while operating cars, speedboats, hang gliders, Jet Skis … you get it. The same applies to most activities that would require you to see things that are further away, like gazing wistfully out your bedroom window or watching re-runs of Family Feud. Even so, the perks our +3.50 readers offer – vision correction, scratch-resistant, smudge-proof, and fashion-forward – will certainly make you a triple threat and a half.
