How do progressive readers work?

One teensy stipulation for those who tend to wear teensy frames: progressive lenses need enough space for their three distinct focus areas, and some half-rims or smaller reading frames are simply too cramped. Choose a frame with more surface area to give your progressive lenses plenty of room to work their magic.

Will progressive readers help with my astigmatism?

If you’re someone with astigmatism who needs both up-close and far-out vision correction, you’ll want to aim for progressive lenses that host your distance prescription in the top focal area as well as your reader strength at the bottom. They truly go with everything, everywhere, all the time. Progressive readers that have no prescription up top won’t do you a whole lot of good, so make sure you’re accounting for both types of vision correction your eyeballs require. How do I adjust and adapt to wearing progressive readers regularly?

Wearing progressive readers may be a bit of a change at first, as switching between focus areas requires wearers to adjust their eyes in ways they may not be used to. You’ll need to look through the lower third in order to read and adjust your line of sight to peer through the top third to see things that are further away. Not to worry: once you get the hang of it, it’s just like riding a bike. Those with a new pair of progressives on the way will also want to spend some time fiddling with the placement of the bridge and nose pads – blurry peripheral vision means you need to move your progressives closer to your eyeballs. Wear them as much as you can at first, but wait until you’re more comfortable to take them behind the wheel with you.

How are progressive readers different from regular reading glasses?

In case you haven’t already heard, progressive readers exist on the bleeding edge of eyewear innovation. They allow you to streamline your eyewear routine, meaning you no longer need to carry around multiple pairs of glasses that are doomed to be smushed at the bottom of your purse or lost in the void between car seats.
