+2.00 Reading Glasses

Are +2.00 reading glasses considered a strong magnification?

Allow us to tell you a thing or two about +2.00 reading glasses. We offer reader strengths ranging from 0.00 to +4.00, so having a strength of +2.00 is quite common and extremely normal for those with, shall we say, more years of lived experience. It is higher than the lowest strength we offer, so it might be best for those who are leveling up their reader strength or arriving late to the presbyopia game.

If I already wear prescription glasses, can I use +2.00 strength readers?

If you need both up-close and far-out vision correction, worry not. There are plenty of solutions that don’t involve wearing two frames at once, and thank goodness for that. You can wear your +2.00 strength reading glasses right over your contacts. If you’re not a contacts wearer, allow us to direct your attention to our progressive or bifocal lenses. They’re the two-for-one special of vision correction. Ka-ching!

What kinds of frame shapes and styles do +2.00 readers come in?

Are you sitting down? Okay, here goes: any one of our frames can be outfitted with reader lenses. From quirky cat eye readers to polished squares to beautifully bonkers geometric shapes, if you can envision it, we’ve probably got it. Heads up for those in need of a prescription in their reading glasses as well as their reader strength: some of our half-rim readers and narrow-sized readers are not deep enough to fit a multi-focal lens, but there are still hundreds of options for finding a progressive reader. No glasses wearer left behind here!

Are women's +2.00 readers different from men's +2.00 readers?

We do offer women’s, men’s, and unisex readers, but we’re certainly not in the business of cramping your style, so feel free to take these categories as polite suggestions. Women may be from Venus and men from Mars, but all our lenses are from the Midwest. If you’re specifically looking for style suggestions that will suit either feminine or masculine features, read on.

The current trends for masculine faces include big ol’ squares such as Guy Normis or C Suite. Classic colors like black or tortoise are always in style, but don’t let that stop you from branching out with something bolder. If you have feminine features and your goal is to be the coolest cat around, join the ranks of glamour girls like Marilyn by opting for a highly sophisticated cat eye. Fat Cat and Oh Mama will allow you your Breakfast at Tiffany’s moment, while Overlook offers a slightly updated version of this trend.

Can I wear my +2.00 reading glasses for close-up activities other than reading, such as crafts or other hobbies?

Whether you’re finally finishing up that scarf you started knitting two years ago or solving complex mathematical equations, our +2.00 reading glasses will help you get it done. If it takes a +2.00 for your eyes to tango, rest assured that your peepers will soon be feeling seventeen again. No matter the up-close activity, these babies will ensure your frown lines don’t get any deeper. Phew!

Can I keep my +2.00 readers on for an extended period of time?

If you and your +2.00 readers are already two peas in a pod, you’ll be thrilled to know that wearing reading glasses for a long time won’t harm your eyes’ health in any way. Unfortunately, they are likely to complicate things requiring a wider scope of vision. If you’re looking to use your readers for anything that involves seeing beyond the end of your novel, consider bifocal or progressive reading glasses instead. If you’re wondering if you can keep them on while staring blankly at your email inbox for hours on end, go ahead and go crazy.

Can I wear +2.00 readers over contact lenses?

Survey says: sure you can. Wearing your +2.00 readers over your contacts is no big thing, especially since your reader strength is still relatively low. Just watch out for any discomfort – our eyeballs are inarguably essential, so it’s important to keep them at ease. If you do end up experiencing eye strain or headaches whilst doubling up on eyewear, it’s probably best to stick with one at a time.

Can I drive in +2.00 reading glasses?

If you love your +2.00 readers so much you never want to take them off, we hear you. And while we love what we hear just as much as you love what you see in the mirror, we must advise against wearing full lens readers on the road. Feel free to wear bifocal or progressive reading sunglasses while driving, which allow you to switch between up-close and distance vision, but full lens readers will make your distance vision go all wonky.
