What are tinted reading glasses, and how do they differ from regular reading glasses?

Do tinted reading glasses have prescription options?

But of course. Our tinted reader sunglass strengths range from 0.00 all the way up to +4.00, so no matter your manner of vision issue, we’ve got you covered. As a general rule, most people in the first throes of presbyopia will need a strength of around +1.00. As things get blurrier, the strength you need gets higher, so if the menu may as well be written in Greek you’re likely close to a +4.00. If you’ve yet to determine your reader strength, we’d recommend making a date with your optometrist for the most accurate result. For those determined to DIY it, we applaud your initiative and encourage you to head for our reader strength test. Keep in mind, though, that ending up with the wrong reader strength will likely cause headaches and impaired vision. Putting your eyes in the hands of professionals is your best bet.

Are tinted reading glasses suitable for outdoor use?

It’s only the role they were born to play. Whether you’re keeping an eagle eye on your golf scorecard, scouring the beach for shark teeth with your niece, or engaging in some much-needed online retail therapy whilst lounging on your patio, tinted reading glasses are your knights in CR-39 armor.

We’d never presume to tell you where you can and can’t wear your glasses, but we can provide you with some well-informed advice. Although we’re absolutely proponents of wearing your sunglasses indoors (or at night), we must inform you that you’ll likely be flying blind in moody lighting. In the same vein, operating any kind of motor vehicle whilst wearing your tinted readers is a no-no: your reader strength will compromise your distance vision, which is certainly not what you want while you’re watching the road.
